Frequently asked questions

  • Sessions are $120/hr private pay with some sliding scale availability. I can provide a superbill for insurance reimbursement upon request.

  • I do not currently accept insurance, however I deeply value accessibility and am working towards accepting insurance in the near future. Please reach out to stay in touch if you’d like to be informed when I’m able to accept insurance.

  • Somatic therapy uses both gentle movement and talking in our work. Trying to heal pain in the body by only talking about it is like trying to learn how to ride a bike by listening to a podcast. The movements we explore aren’t conditioning exercises like you might do at physical therapy and are more gentle, designed to support you to feel sensations besides pain in your body. We always respect your comfort and capacity because it’s your body, not mine, and you’re in charge. My goal is to help you return to doing the things you want in life in a body you can trust.

  • I work primarily with clients experiencing chronic back, neck, and musculoskeletal pain that has persisted for more than 6 months. I also support clients with fibromyalgia, migraines, tmj, tinnitus, ibs, and emotional challenges concurrent with symptoms.

  • Feeling like you can trust your body again might seem daunting. You might feel like your body is an alien or even like the enemy. I know. I’m not here to tell you to all of a sudden start loving your body. I’m here to help you decrease your symptoms and find more peace with your body so you can remember who you are outside the pain and live the life you want. Because we aren’t just brains in jars, that means we need to come back to our bodies to do this living; after all our bodies are what we come into this world in and what we’ll take all the way out.

  • While therapy is a unique, individual process, many people start to feel relief from the physical and emotional symptoms of chronic pain within 6 to 8 sessions. Unlike the traditional medical model, our work together will adapt to your needs and go at your speed. We’re in this together, I’ll never tell you “we’ve tried everything and you just can’t be helped anymore”. Above all, I’m committed to moving forward and finding hope, even if that means supporting you through a referral for another clinician who might help more than I can.
